Chapter 24
Back at the BMW dealership, Lin Yuzhen bit her lip, clearly unsure of how to react to Jiang Ning’s actions. The look on her face was a mix of disbelief and exasperation.
“Enough is enough,” she muttered, clearly frustrated. “One car is $500,000! Stop wasting money like this!”
But Jiang Ning was determined. He dragged her into the dealership, ignoring her protests. The sales assistants instantly recognized him as the wealthy man from just a few days ago, the one who had bought the car without even test driving it. They assumed he was there to have his permanent license plate installed, which made them regret not closing that sale properly.
“Mr. Jiang?” The salesgirl from two days ago, noticing their arrival, hurried over. “Are you here to pick up your license plate? I’ve just received it.”
But Jiang Ning’s response caught her off guard.
“Oh, we don’t need that plate anymore,” he said nonchalantly.
The salesgirl froze, processing his words. What did he mean? Were they returning the car?
Seeing Lin Yuzhen’s apologetic look, she wondered if Jiang Ning had come to return the car after all. The other sales assistants started to make similar assumptions, thinking that the rich guy might have regretted his impulsive purchase. After all, who buys a car worth nearly $500,000 without testing it first? It must have been a mistake, and now he was trying to backtrack.
Jiang Ning, however, made it clear what he wanted next.
“I want another one of these,” he said, pointing to a car in the showroom. “The same model, but a new one.”
“What?” The salesgirl blinked in confusion. “Another one?”
“Yeah, the one I bought is all knocked up,” Jiang Ning said, casually pulling out his black card. “Hurry up, I’m starving and want to get home for my mum’s cooking.”
The salesgirl, still in shock, finally reacted. Jiang Ning wasn’t there to return the car at all. He was buying another one! Her excitement was palpable—after all, this meant another big sale for her.
“Got it! I’ll take care of it right away!” she nearly shouted, her face flushed with excitement. In just a few days, she’d made another huge commission.
The other sales assistants could only stare in envy. They could hardly sell two cars in a month, let alone two in the span of a few days to the same person. To them, Jiang Ning was an unstoppable force of wealth. Two cars—over a million bucks just like that!
Lin Yuzhen sighed, shaking her head. “Jiang Ning, if you keep spending like this, my mum won’t be happy about it.”
“Don’t worry, I know how to handle her,” Jiang Ning replied confidently. “I guarantee you, she won’t be angry.”
In a matter of moments, everything was sorted out. The salesgirl quickly handed him the keys to the new car. She also passed him back his card, still in awe of its power. She’d learned a bit about its minimum requirements and nearly fainted when she realized how much was on it.
“There’s just one small issue,” the salesgirl said as she handed the keys over. “You’ll need to wait another couple of days for the license plate.”
“Fine,” Jiang Ning said, uninterested. “Let’s go.”
He turned to leave with Lin Yuzhen, but then she stopped him.
“What do we do with the old car?” she asked, looking at the car they had just bought two days ago.
Jiang Ning waved dismissively. “Don’t want it anymore.”
Lin Yuzhen was furious. “What? You can’t just do that! It’s only two days old!”
“No,” she puffed her cheeks out in frustration. “You can’t just throw away a perfectly good car like that!”
She turned to the salesgirl, asking, “Can we leave it here for repairs?”
“Of course, that’s our job,” the salesgirl responded with enthusiasm. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything.”
“Whatever my wife says,” Jiang Ning chimed in, grinning at Lin Yuzhen.
The salesgirl, eager to impress, added, “Mrs. Jiang, you’re so lucky to have such a wonderful husband who listens to you.”
Lin Yuzhen’s face turned crimson. She shot a glare at Jiang Ning. How dare he call her his wife in public when they hadn’t even discussed that yet!
Jiang Ning led Lin Yuzhen out to the new car. The sales assistants could only watch in a mix of awe and disbelief. The old car, which they would never be able to afford in their lifetime, was now reduced to a discarded toy for someone who could afford to throw it away on a whim.
“Do you think he’ll come back to buy another one?” one of them asked.
“Maybe the ashtray’s too full,” another joked.
“Enough, my little heart can’t take it anymore!” another lamented.
Meanwhile, Lin Yuzhen and Jiang Ning arrived home in the new car, where Su Mei and Lin Wen were already waiting. Su Mei didn’t say anything, but Lin Wen looked at the car with interest but ultimately didn’t comment.
“Mum, what’s for lunch?” Jiang Ning smiled. “I’m starving after all the running around today.”
Lin Yuzhen muttered to herself, annoyed. “What nonsense, I’m the one who’s been busy all morning. You had two fried dough sticks for breakfast.”
Su Mei smiled and gestured for everyone to wash up. “Just some simple home-cooked dishes. Come on, wash your hands, and let’s eat.”
Everyone gathered around the table, and as they ate, Su Mei casually placed a card on the table.
“The CEO of Donghai Bank came by this morning. He gave me five million as compensation.”
Lin Yuzhen’s eyebrows furrowed. “Five million?” she asked, clearly hesitant. “But we can’t just accept this money, can we?”
Su Mei felt equally uneasy, unsure of what to do with such a large sum.
Jiang Ning, however, was adamant. “Of course we accept it,” he said firmly. “Five million? That’s letting them off too easily.”
Lin Yuzhen stared at him, shocked. “Five million is already a lot of money!”
Jiang Ning scoffed. “If it were me, I’d make them pay at least five billion. They slapped my mum, and if they don’t pay up, I’ll make sure their bank goes bankrupt.”
Lin Yuzhen nearly dropped her chopsticks. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “Mum, you’re too kind,” Jiang Ning added. “If you don’t take this, you’ll regret it. I guarantee you, from tomorrow, the CEO is going to come begging at your door every day.”
Su Mei hesitated, still unsure.
“Just keep it, Mum,” Lin Yuzhen finally said. “They hit you, so you deserve to be compensated.”
Even Lin Yuzhen couldn’t ignore the large sum, but Jiang Ning was still unsatisfied.
“Use the money however you want,” he said, grinning. “Buy some vegetables, or better yet, get more meat! This braised meat is amazing!”
Jiang Ning finished his rice and went for a second bowl, treating the home like his own, completely at ease.
Elsewhere, in a private hot spring clubhouse, Lin Qiang was soaking in the water, visibly irritated. Beside him, a large, burly man covered in tattoos looked equally tense.
“Brother Hu, how is it that every group of men you send gets worse?” Lin Qiang growled. “I paid two million, and this is the result?”
