Chapter 62
Lin Feng was sent tumbling backward, crashing into a table with a loud thud. His face burned, both from the humiliation and the sharp sting of the slap. He scrambled to get up, his eyes wild with rage. But Jiang Ning’s cold and composed demeanor only intensified his fury.
“You—you think you can do anything you want just because you’ve got a little power now?” Lin Feng spat, still reeling from the blow. His pride was shattered, and his mind raced to regain some semblance of control over the situation.
Jiang Ning stepped forward, his gaze unwavering. “You have no idea who you’re dealing with,” he said, his voice low and steady. “I don’t care about your old Lin Group. But you will respect my wife, or there will be consequences. Now, get lost before I lose my patience.”
The atmosphere in the restaurant shifted. The rich young men who had been following Lin Feng were suddenly silent, clearly intimidated by Jiang Ning’s presence and the way he handled the situation. They exchanged uncertain glances, but none of them dared to speak.
Lin Feng, his face contorted with anger and embarrassment, finally took a step back, swallowing his pride. He had no choice but to leave—he was in no position to challenge Jiang Ning again.
“You’re lucky, Jiang Ning,” Lin Feng muttered through gritted teeth as he turned to leave. “But this isn’t over.”
Jiang Ning’s expression remained unchanged. “Don’t flatter yourself. If you ever try to cross me again, I won’t be so kind.”
As Lin Feng and his entourage made their way out, Jiang Ning turned to Lin Yuzhen, who had been watching the whole scene unfold with a mix of surprise and amusement.
“Are you alright?” Jiang Ning asked, his tone softening as he reached for her hand.
Lin Yuzhen smiled at him, still a little taken aback by the display of power. “I’m fine. Thank you for handling that.”
Jiang Ning shrugged. “It’s nothing. You don’t need to worry about people like him.”
They walked toward their private room in the restaurant, where a peaceful dinner awaited them. The atmosphere around them had shifted. Lin Feng’s threats and humiliation had not only been an issue of pride, but a reminder of the path Jiang Ning was carving for the Lin family.
“This isn’t over yet,” Jiang Ning mused as they sat down. “The old Lin Group won’t let go easily. But I’m not concerned. I’ll make sure no one stands in the way of what’s coming.”
Lin Yuzhen nodded, her determination matching his. “I know. And I’m with you every step of the way.”
As they enjoyed their dinner, the outside world seemed to melt away. Jiang Ning’s thoughts, however, were already set on the future—the future where the Lin family would stand tall, and where he would ensure that no one, not even the remnants of the old guard, could bring them down.
