Chapter 82
Lin Wu’s voice was low and dangerous, carrying the weight of his fury. His eyes locked onto Lin Qiang with a deadly intensity. There was no room for ambiguity in his demand for an explanation, and Lin Qiang could feel the pressure mounting, knowing that this was the moment where his lies and manipulations would begin to unravel.
Lin Wu stood tall, his chest heaving with barely contained rage. His men, who had followed him in, stood like shadows at the door, their expressions hardened and ready for anything. They had seen Lin Wu in this state before—ruthless, unrelenting, and unstoppable when driven by vengeance.
Lin Qiang, despite his usual arrogance, felt the ground shift under him. Lin Wu’s words were like a slap to his face, and he could sense that his brother, in his current state, was not someone to be trifled with. However, he wasn’t about to let his own guilt show. He quickly composed himself, adopting an air of indifference as he glanced at Lin Wu with feigned confusion.
“Explain what happened? What happened is exactly what I’ve been saying!” Lin Qiang sneered. “Lin Wen has always been a problem for our family, and now, this! Look at Dad—look at what he’s become!”
He gestured toward Lin Xiao, still lying motionless on the bed, his face bruised and swollen, his breathing shallow and labored. Lin Wu’s heart clenched, but he didn’t take his eyes off Lin Qiang. He could see through the lies, the deflection, the shifting blame.
“You think this is about Lin Wen?!” Lin Wu barked, his voice rising with anger. “No, this is about you, Lin Qiang. You did this! You are the one who’s driven Dad to this state!”
The room seemed to close in around Lin Qiang as the weight of Lin Wu’s accusation hit him. He could feel the intensity of the gaze fixed on him, the judgment from the very man he had once tried to control, the brother he had hoped to manipulate into doing his bidding. But there was no manipulating Lin Wu now.
“I didn’t…” Lin Qiang stammered, his face paling as Lin Wu stepped forward, his presence menacing. “It’s not like that! You don’t understand!”
Lin Wu’s fist slammed onto the nearby table, and the room echoed with the sound of impact. “Don’t lie to me! What do you mean by ‘you don’t understand’? You caused this. You manipulated everything just to get what you wanted. And now, look at our father—he’s dying, and you have the nerve to shift the blame?”
Lin Qiang could feel the walls closing in, and for the first time in a long while, he felt a sense of unease creeping through him. The words from his brother were sharp, cutting deep into his self-preserved arrogance. The veil had been torn away, and Lin Qiang knew there was no running from this confrontation.
Lin Wu, unable to contain his rage any longer, turned his back on Lin Qiang and knelt beside Lin Xiao. He grasped his father’s hand, his voice cracking with emotion as he whispered, “Dad, I’ll make him pay for this. No one hurts you and gets away with it.”
Lin Qiang stood frozen for a moment, the severity of the situation sinking in. His face contorted with frustration, but there was no hiding the terror beginning to rise in him. His empire was falling apart, his family was in chaos, and his brother—the one he had always considered the weak link—was now the one he feared most.
“I didn’t mean for this to happen,” Lin Qiang muttered, more to himself than to anyone else. But no one was listening.
Lin Wu stood up slowly, his eyes burning with a cold fury. “You should’ve thought about that before you crossed the line,” he said, his voice a deadly whisper.
With one last, chilling glance at Lin Qiang, Lin Wu turned and walked out of the room, his men following behind him. The tension in the air was palpable, as Lin Qiang was left standing there, his world unraveling before his eyes.
As Lin Wu’s car pulled away from the estate, he could only think about one thing—getting to Lin Wen. The family was on the verge of collapse, and Lin Qiang had no idea just how deep the mess he had created would go. But Lin Wu was determined to fix what his brother had broken, no matter the cost.
Back at the factory, Brother Gou and the others continued their brutal training, unaware of the storm brewing within the Lin family. They had their own battles to fight, but Jiang Ning’s presence loomed large over everything. In time, they would realize how interconnected their fates were with the events unfolding in Donghai. The stakes were high, and soon enough, their paths would cross in ways they never imagined.
