Chapter 51
The tension in the room was unbearable. Lin Qiang’s words echoed through the air, sharp and full of venom, aiming to tear Lin Yuzhen down in front of everyone. His accusation was as bold as it was absurd, a calculated attempt to destroy her reputation and ruin her future within the company.
Lin Yuzhen remained unfazed, her expression cool and collected, though the weight of the situation hung heavy in the air. She knew what he was doing. He was trying to provoke her, get her to react, but she wouldn’t give him that satisfaction.
“You’re slandering me, Lin Qiang,” she finally spoke, her voice calm yet laced with a quiet intensity that silenced the room. “I’ve done nothing wrong. Everything I’ve done has been for the good of this company, for the family. If you have evidence, bring it forward. Otherwise, you’re just making baseless accusations to try and drive me out.”
Jiang Ning leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he studied Lin Qiang’s face, watching for any sign of doubt. But there was none. Lin Qiang was too committed to his plot now, too far down the path of his own lies. He couldn’t back out without losing face.
“You’re not fooling anyone, Lin Qiang,” Jiang Ning said, his voice cutting through the tension. “This isn’t about any project, or the company’s future. It’s about your power grab, and how desperate you are to control everything. You’re willing to destroy your own family to get ahead, and you’re using Lin Yuzhen as the scapegoat to do it.”
Lin Qiang’s face turned a shade redder, his anger rising, but he knew better than to lash out in front of the directors. This wasn’t just a family matter anymore. There were eyes on him, and every word he spoke had consequences.
“Enough!” Lin Qiang spat, his fist slamming down on the table once more. “You think you can protect her? You’re both nothing but a distraction to this company! You’ve played your part, Yuzhen, but your time here is over. The board has already decided. You’re out!”
The words hung in the air like a death sentence. But Lin Yuzhen didn’t flinch. She wasn’t the type to beg or plead. She had fought too hard for everything she had, and she wasn’t about to let Lin Qiang take it all away with one cheap move.
“Then let the board decide,” she said firmly, her gaze unwavering. “But know this: I will fight for what’s mine. I’ve built this company, I’ve earned my place here, and no one—especially you—will take that from me without a fight.”
Lin Qiang’s eyes narrowed, but he didn’t answer. Instead, he turned to the directors, waiting for their support. He had hoped to humiliate her, to break her spirit, but all he had done was fuel her resolve.
“Does anyone else have anything to say?” Lin Qiang’s voice was cold, demanding compliance, but there was a subtle crack in it. His confidence was faltering.
The room was silent. No one spoke up. The directors exchanged uneasy glances, each of them weighing the consequences of supporting Lin Qiang in this public power struggle. It was one thing to follow him in private, but in front of Jiang Ning—someone with influence and power in his own right—it wasn’t so clear-cut.
Jiang Ning finally stood up, his posture casual but commanding. “This isn’t just about Lin Yuzhen anymore, Lin Qiang. It’s about how far you’re willing to go to keep your control. You’re gambling with everything, and if you keep pushing, you might find that even your own family won’t stand by you.”
Lin Qiang’s fists clenched at his sides, but before he could retort, Jiang Ning looked over at Lin Yuzhen. “Let’s go, Yuzhen. We don’t need to waste any more time here.”
With a defiant nod, Lin Yuzhen stood, her back straight as she made her way toward the door. Jiang Ning followed closely behind her, the room still buzzing with the aftermath of the confrontation.
Lin Qiang’s face twisted in anger and frustration, but he couldn’t stop them. Not yet, anyway. This wasn’t over. And if he had his way, Lin Yuzhen’s downfall would come soon enough.
But Jiang Ning had made it clear: the fight was just beginning. And with him by her side, Lin Yuzhen wasn’t going down without a fight.
