Chapter 56
Lin Qiang frantically waved his hand in front of his father, trying to snap him out of his shock. “Dad, take a deep breath! You’re going to make yourself sick! Just calm down, please!”
Lin Xiao’s face was beet red, his fists clenched so tightly his nails dug into his palms. His usually calm and composed demeanor had crumbled, replaced by a fury that threatened to consume him. He leaned heavily against his chair, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he struggled to regain his composure.
“That damn Lin Yuzhen!” Lin Xiao gritted his teeth, his voice trembling with rage. “She’s gone too far! How could she betray us like this?”
Lin Qiang stood frozen, still trying to process everything. He had never seen his father in such a state of distress. Lin Xiao had always been the pillar of strength in their family, the one who never let emotions cloud his judgment. But now, the weight of the situation seemed to be too much to bear.
After a few moments, Lin Xiao finally straightened up, though his anger still burned in his eyes. “We can’t let this go. We need to act. Lin Yuzhen has made a grave mistake, and we will make her pay.”
Lin Qiang, still unsure of what to do, nodded reluctantly. “But what can we do? The contracts are in her name now. It’s a done deal. We can’t just take it back.”
Lin Xiao’s eyes narrowed as he stared into the distance, a look of determination slowly replacing the fury. “We’ll find a way. We always do. We won’t let that girl get away with this.”
Lin Qiang hesitated for a moment before speaking again, his voice quieter this time. “And what about Jiang Ning? He’s the one backing her, right?”
Lin Xiao’s face twisted in disgust at the mention of Jiang Ning’s name. “That bastard… He’s the real problem here. We should have dealt with him when we had the chance. But now he’s playing us for fools, too.”
“Then what do you suggest we do?” Lin Qiang asked, his voice tinged with frustration.
Lin Xiao leaned back in his chair, deep in thought. “We need to outsmart them. We can’t just take them head-on, not yet. But there are other ways to make them regret crossing us.”
He turned back to Lin Qiang, his eyes steely and resolute. “Get in touch with our contacts in Shengcheng. We need to start putting pressure on them. If Lin Yuzhen thinks she’s going to have an easy time of it, she’s wrong.”
Lin Qiang nodded slowly, a glimmer of hope sparking in his chest. “Alright, Dad. I’ll get to work on it right away.”
As Lin Qiang hurried to leave, Lin Xiao’s gaze lingered on the door for a moment longer. His mind raced with plans, schemes, and strategies, all aimed at taking back what he felt was rightfully his. Lin Yuzhen had made a bold move, but he wasn’t about to let her—or Jiang Ning—have the last laugh.
Back at the house, Lin Yuzhen and Su Mei were cleaning up after dinner when Lin Yuzhen’s phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and saw a message from Jiang Ning.
“Everything’s in place. Tomorrow, we make our move.”
She smiled at the thought of what was to come. Despite everything that had happened, despite the betrayal and the anger from her family, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. She was finally taking control of her own destiny. And with Jiang Ning by her side, she knew there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish.
“What’s wrong?” Su Mei asked, noticing the smile on her daughter’s face.
“It’s nothing,” Lin Yuzhen replied, tucking her phone away. “Just thinking about the future.”
Su Mei nodded, sensing that her daughter was deep in thought. “You deserve all the good things that are coming your way, Yuzhen. Just remember, we’ll always be here for you, no matter what.”
Lin Yuzhen hugged her mother tightly, the weight of the day’s events settling in her chest. “Thanks, Mum. I know.”
Tomorrow would be a new beginning, a fresh start. But she knew that the road ahead would be full of challenges. With Jiang Ning’s help, though, she was ready to face whatever came their way.
