Chapter 76
Jin Ran froze, his expression shifting from smug arrogance to shock. His eyes widened as he saw Jiang Ning step forward, his presence commanding the room with an undeniable pressure.
“You…” Jin Ran stammered, trying to maintain his composure but failing miserably. He had no idea Jiang Ning was involved with Lin Yuzhen, let alone the man who had been protecting her all this time.
Lin Feng, standing beside Jin Ran, felt his heart race. He could sense the danger in the air, the palpable tension that seemed to suffocate the room. He had always thought of Jiang Ning as a figure from the shadows, someone whose reputation could only be whispered about. But now, standing face-to-face with him, he understood just how wrong he was.
Jin Ran quickly tried to recover his bravado, his earlier arrogance faltering. “Jiang Ning, what are you doing here?” His voice was shaky, but he still tried to project dominance. “This doesn’t concern you. This is between me and Lin Yuzhen!”
Jiang Ning gave him a cold smile, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Between you and Lin Yuzhen? You must be delusional, Jin Ran. It seems you still don’t understand who you’re dealing with. You’ve made a grave mistake thinking you could walk all over her—or anyone else, for that matter.”
Jin Ran’s face turned pale. He wasn’t scared of many people, but the aura Jiang Ning exuded was something different. It wasn’t just fear; it was a deep, instinctual knowledge that going up against Jiang Ning would lead to nothing but ruin.
“Are you threatening me?” Jin Ran asked, his voice no longer as bold as it had been moments ago.
Jiang Ning’s expression remained unchanged. “No. I’m just telling you how it is. You’ve overstayed your welcome, Jin Ran. And now you’ve crossed the line. If you don’t leave right now, I’ll make sure you regret it.”
Lin Feng, realizing how serious the situation had become, stepped back a little, his face pale. He had always been the one behind the scenes, scheming and pulling strings, but standing in the same room as Jiang Ning, it felt as though all the control he had was slipping away.
Jin Ran, however, was still trying to salvage his pride. “You think you can intimidate me just like that?” He took a step forward, but the threat in Jiang Ning’s eyes made him pause. “I don’t care who you are. If you think you can protect Lin Yuzhen, you’re making a mistake.”
“Leave,” Jiang Ning said, his voice low and steady, the words cutting through the tension in the room. “Before I decide to make it harder for you.”
The chilling calm in Jiang Ning’s voice sent a shiver down Jin Ran’s spine. He hesitated for a moment, then, realizing that the situation was beyond his control, he turned and motioned for Lin Feng to follow. “This isn’t over,” he muttered under his breath, but his voice lacked the conviction it once had.
Jin Ran and Lin Feng quickly exited the office, their heads hanging low. As the door slammed shut behind them, the oppressive atmosphere in the room seemed to lift slightly.
Lin Yuzhen, who had been watching the exchange in stunned silence, finally spoke, her voice soft but full of gratitude. “Thank you, Jiang Ning… for everything.”
Jiang Ning gave a small smile, not bothering to respond directly. “It’s nothing. You don’t need to thank me. Just focus on your work and take care of the company.”
Lin Yuzhen nodded, feeling a mix of relief and admiration. She had always been strong, but today, she had been reminded that sometimes strength came in forms she didn’t expect.
“Let’s move forward,” Jiang Ning said, his tone changing as he returned to his calm demeanor. “The Jins are nothing compared to what we can handle.”
With that, Jiang Ning turned and made his way to the door, leaving Lin Yuzhen to process everything that had just happened. As he stepped out, Lin Yuzhen couldn’t help but feel a surge of warmth—grateful, but also aware that Jiang Ning was a force to be reckoned with. And he wasn’t just protecting her company; he was silently, and perhaps unknowingly, securing her place in a much larger world.
