Chapter 37
Lin Qiang’s mind raced as he made his way back to his car. The conversation with his father had gone according to plan, but the lingering anger from the confrontation with Lin Wen gnawed at him. Lin Wen’s outburst had been a surprising move, and for a moment, Lin Qiang had felt a rare moment of unease. But that was all it was—unease. The fact was, Lin Wen was nothing compared to him. He had always been weak, both in mind and in action, and Lin Qiang’s position was unshakable in the Lin family.
As he drove, he considered how to eliminate the problem that Lin Wen had become. The older man’s complaints about the company and the family were just noise. Lin Wen might have been vocal, but he had no power. Even if he went to Lin Xiao, it wouldn’t change the fact that Lin Qiang had far more influence in the family business. Lin Xiao trusted him—Lin Wen was just a nuisance.
But the BMW purchase, and the connection to Huang Yuming, had caught Lin Qiang’s attention. Lin Yuzhen had begun to get more ambitious than he had anticipated, and now he realized the threat she posed. If Lin Yuzhen truly was in cahoots with Huang Yuming, the consequences could be dire for their entire business empire.
“Lin Wen may be a pawn, but Yuzhen… Yuzhen is a real problem,” he muttered under his breath as he maneuvered through the traffic.
Lin Qiang’s fingers tightened around the steering wheel, his mind working over the various ways he could remove this obstacle. He was never one to let an opportunity slip by, and if there was even a chance that Yuzhen was going to make a move for the Lin Group, he had to stop her.
Back at his office, Lin Qiang gathered his most trusted aides, his face cold and focused. “We need to accelerate our plans. Lin Yuzhen’s involvement with Huang Yuming must be investigated immediately. If she’s trying to take control of the company, we’ll crush her before she has a chance to even think about it.”
One of his subordinates nodded in agreement. “What do you want us to do about Lin Wen and his complaints, CEO Lin?”
Lin Qiang smirked, his eyes cold as steel. “Lin Wen is just a puppet. His threats don’t matter. If he continues to create problems, I’ll deal with him in a way that will make sure he never bothers me again.”
The room grew tense as his underlings exchanged nervous glances. They had learned by now that Lin Qiang’s way of dealing with problems was not subtle, and it was effective. But even they were starting to wonder just how far he was willing to go in order to solidify his control over the Lin Group.
The next steps were clear: gather information on Yuzhen, find out exactly what she was up to with Huang Yuming, and stop her before she could gain any more ground. Lin Qiang wasn’t going to let anything jeopardize his position, not even family.
As the day went on, Lin Qiang’s thoughts remained fixed on one thing: Yuzhen’s next move.
