Jin Ran’s anger burned, and his words oozed with venom as he plotted his revenge. He had never been humiliated in such a way before, especially by someone like Jiang Ning. His face was still throbbing from the slap, and his body ached from being thrown out of the restaurant like some insignificant dog. The thought of being bested by a man he considered beneath him drove him to fury.
“That lunatic has made an enemy of the Jin family,” he muttered, his hands balled into fists. “He’ll regret this, I promise you that.”
Lin Feng, on the other hand, was more shaken than anything. He had been the one to bring these troubles onto himself by being too proud and too arrogant, and now it felt like the world was closing in on him. His face was still stinging, and he couldn’t shake the image of his own disgrace. Yet, his eyes narrowed when he thought about Jin Ran’s words.
“You’re right,” Lin Feng said bitterly. “He can’t just get away with this. We need to make him pay.”
As they walked down the street, Yu Fang watched the two men from a distance, his eyes thoughtful. Though he had initially appeared meek and fearful in front of Jin Ran, his mind was clearly working differently now. The way Jiang Ning had handled the situation with such ease and authority intrigued him, and it sparked something deeper in him — a calculating drive.
Yu Fang had always known that the most powerful people were those who could control situations without losing their composure. “I’ve got to make this work,” Yu Fang muttered to himself, his eyes fixed on the path ahead. “If I save him, he’ll owe me big time.”
Meanwhile, back in the private room, Jiang Ning was unaware of the schemes brewing outside. Lin Yuzhen leaned back in her chair, savoring the meal Jiang Ning had insisted on treating her to. The earlier events seemed far away now, and she felt a sense of peace and contentment in his presence.
Jiang Ning, however, was not entirely relaxed. Though he appeared calm, his mind was already considering the implications of his actions with the Jin family and anyone else who might think to challenge him. His protective instincts for Lin Yuzhen were unwavering, and anyone who dared to threaten her, no matter how powerful, would find themselves regretting it.
“I’ll handle them,” Jiang Ning said quietly, as if sensing her unspoken concern. “No one is going to hurt you, not while I’m around.”
Lin Yuzhen smiled softly. “I know. You always know what to do.”
She reached out and touched his hand, her heart swelling with affection for him. He had always been protective, but lately, she realized just how far he was willing to go to ensure her safety. And that thought, more than anything, made her feel secure.
But in the back of her mind, she couldn’t help but wonder about the Jin family’s reaction. They were powerful, and Jin Ran was not someone who would easily let this go. Would they retaliate? And what kind of impact would this have on them in the long run?
Jiang Ning caught her glance and gave her a reassuring smile, his voice unwavering. “I’m not worried about the Jin family. They’ll learn their place sooner or later.”
His words were simple, but the certainty in his tone made her believe him. Despite everything, Lin Yuzhen couldn’t help but feel grateful for the man sitting across from her.
