Chapter 100
Slater saw the tweet the moment it went live.
His blood boiled as he stared at the bright pink Bugatti Veyron, now covered in comments praising Loraine’s actions. Each compliment felt like another insult.
Although the gossip surrounding Loraine and Marco’s relationship still lingered online, it didn’t have much impact on the ongoing cooperation between Universe Group and the government. The rumors were quickly debunked, leaving the project on track.
Loraine had scheduled a meeting with Klein, the man in charge of their government project, to discuss details and finalize contracts. She sat in the private room, sipping tea, waiting for him to arrive.
The door swung open after a while.
Loraine looked up, her smile immediately fading when she saw who had entered.
“Marco, what are you doing here?” she asked, her voice flat.
Marco stood in the doorway, dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, a gleaming brooch on his collar. He looked even more handsome than he had at the banquet. His deep-set eyes locked onto hers, unwavering. “Am I not allowed to be here?”
Loraine’s annoyance flared.
“Sure, you can be here,” she replied coldly. “But this room is occupied. Leave.”
Marco’s brow furrowed, his irritation evident. She clearly didn’t want him here and was trying to push him out.
Ignoring her demand, Marco walked in and sat down across from her.
“Of course it’s occupied,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “I booked this room.”
Loraine’s heart sank.
Was this Marco’s way of making a last-minute attempt to secure the smart city project for himself?
She frowned, a storm of thoughts racing through her mind.
