Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Loraine’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be Marco coming to see her?
She quickly jumped out of bed and hurried to open the door, but instead of Marco, it was Keely standing there. The light that had briefly sparkled in Loraine’s eyes faded instantly.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, her voice laced with surprise and tension.
Keely didn’t waste any time. She got straight to the point.
“You and Marco may have been married for three years, but I’m the one he truly loves,” Keely said, her tone calm yet commanding. “I’ve been receiving treatment overseas, and I didn’t think I had much time left, so I let Marco marry you. But now I’ve recovered, and I’m asking you to respect our love and divorce him.”
Loraine’s heart clenched at her words, but she was determined not to show any vulnerability. She stood tall, unwilling to let Keely see her falter.
“You, a mistress, are asking a wife to divorce her husband?” Loraine’s voice was sharp with disbelief. “Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?”
Keely’s smile faded, her expression turning cold.
“Watch your mouth, Loraine,” she snapped. “I’m not a mistress. The one who isn’t loved is the mistress!”
Loraine’s lips curled into a sneer. “As long as I don’t divorce, I’m Marco’s wife, and you’re the mistress.”
Keely’s face darkened with rage, her eyes burning with fury.
“Don’t get too comfortable, Loraine,” she warned, her voice low and threatening. “Let’s see what Marco does when something happens to me. Will he let you stay his wife then?”
A sudden wave of unease washed over Loraine, the weight of Keely’s words sinking in.
“What do you want, Keely?” Loraine asked, her voice tense with a mix of fear and anger.
Without warning, Keely lunged at her, grabbing her and pulling her toward the stairs.
Caught off guard, Loraine struggled, but Keely’s grip was unrelenting.
“Marco! Help! Loraine is trying to kill me!” Keely screamed, her voice filled with panic.
In a wild, reckless motion, Keely threw herself down the stairs, still holding onto Loraine. Unable to break free, Loraine was dragged down with her.
