Chapter 95
Carl’s eyes widened in surprise when he heard Marco’s instructions. A hundred questions buzzed in his mind. Why was Marco suddenly so concerned about Loraine? Why was he defending his ex-wife so fiercely all of a sudden? Carl didn’t dare voice his suspicions, though. He quickly followed Marco’s orders and sent the email to Universe Group without delay.
But after Carl sent the message, there was no reply.
Instead, Universe Group issued an official indictment. They sued Laura Bryant, Marco’s mother, for spreading false rumors and damaging both Loraine’s and Universe Group’s reputation.
Laura’s rage boiled over. She stormed into Marco’s office, demanding an explanation.
“Marco, did you see that? Loraine has sued me after stealing our things! You must not spare that shameless bitch!” Laura raged.
Marco’s face turned pale with anger. “Mom, Universe Group has found evidence. Loraine is innocent.”
“How is that possible?” Laura’s voice cracked with disbelief. She stared at Marco, not understanding what he meant.
She quickly clicked through the documents attached to the indictment from Universe Group. The photos and surveillance footage told a different story. The evidence presented a detailed comparison of recent data from Universe Group and another company called Sola Group.
Laura’s brow furrowed as she scrutinized the reports. Bryant Group’s data didn’t match Universe Group’s. But there were striking similarities between Bryant Group’s and Sola Group’s data, indicating that someone had used the same information.
“What happened?” Laura was confused and frustrated. Could Sola Group have stolen the documents?
Her thoughts turned to Loraine. “I see. Perhaps Loraine was afraid Universe Group would discover the truth, so she sold the documents to Sola Group!”
As Laura spoke, she clicked on the surveillance footage provided by Universe Group, her eyes narrowing in suspicion.
