Chapter 78
“Well, that’s true. The goal of our smart city project is to create a convenient and desirable living environment for everyone,” Klein said, his voice full of conviction. “The plan proposed by Universe Group aligns perfectly with our vision of serving the people. This is the smart city we’ve all been striving for. Miss Torres, you’re so young, yet you seem to have a global perspective on the matter. I’m truly impressed.”
A faint smile appeared on Loraine’s lips. “I can’t take full credit for this. The plan is a collective effort from everyone in the architectural design department of Universe Group. They’ve all contributed immensely to this project.”
Klein nodded, clearly pleased. “That’s admirable. Miss Torres, you’re both talented and modest—such a rare combination.”
At that, Nichol reluctantly sat down, the weight of the situation settling in. No one dared to challenge the potential of Universe Group anymore.
“I hereby declare that the final winner of this bidding is Universe Group. We will proceed to sign the contract with them shortly,” Klein announced, his voice firm and final.
A round of applause echoed through the auditorium, and the room filled with congratulatory remarks for Loraine. Marco’s face, however, darkened. As he looked around, his intense aura sent a ripple of unease through the people nearby.
After the press conference, reporters crowded around Loraine, eager to get a word with her.
“Miss Torres, you’ve successfully led Universe Group to victory today, becoming the youngest and most successful female architect in the industry. With all this power comes responsibility. Do you feel the pressure?”
Loraine nodded thoughtfully. “Of course, there’s pressure. But I choose to see it as a motivation that drives me forward.”
One of the reporters pressed on, “You’ve competed against your ex-husband’s company and emerged victorious. Do you have any words for Mr. Bryant?”
Loraine’s smile was calm and composed. “As you mentioned, he is my ex-husband. What happened in the past is behind us. Discussing it won’t get us anywhere. Next question, please.”
The barrage of questions continued, but Loraine answered each one with grace and ease. Her confidence, mixed with an undeniable elegance, captivated everyone around her.
Marco couldn’t tear his eyes away from her. For a brief moment, he almost forgot he had lost the project to her.
