Chapter 68
“Wow, this sounds even more challenging than I thought!” Loraine’s excitement surged. “But that’s exactly why I’m all in. I’ve never been afraid of anyone in the architectural industry.”
Cayson’s eyes softened as he watched her, admiration evident in his gaze. “Alright, Lorrie. Do what you feel is right. Universe Group and I will always support you.”
But Loraine knew it wouldn’t be easy.
Meanwhile, at Bryant Group’s headquarters, Marco sat at the head of the conference table, his brow furrowed in frustration.
“How’s the construction plan for the smart city coming along?” he asked, his voice curt.
“We’ve already submitted our plan to the government,” Nichol Shaw, the project manager, responded. “They’ve asked for a few revisions, and we’re making the necessary changes. The contract should be signed soon.”
Marco nodded, his expression one of quiet satisfaction. “Good. Keep it moving.”
In his mind, he was already thinking of Loraine. He wanted to prove that Bryant Group was the superior force in the industry—he wanted to show her that Universe Group couldn’t compete with them.
But little did he know, Loraine’s resolve had only grown stronger.
Back at Universe Group, Loraine wasted no time. She returned to the company and immediately began preparing for the bidding. She knew the stakes were high, and the competition was fierce—but that only made her more determined to win.
Soon after, she proposed the idea of entering the smart city project during the first department meeting since she had become the director. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and the room buzzed with excitement.
However, not everyone shared the same optimism.
“Eliza, are you serious? Bryant Group has already secured this project. There’s no way we can compete with them. You should know your limits. This is a foolish idea,” Eliza sneered, her voice dripping with disdain.
Jolie immediately shot back, her voice firm. “What nonsense are you talking about, Eliza? You’re an employee of Universe Group, not Bryant Group. How can you belittle our company like that?”
“Really?” Eliza scoffed. “Everyone knows that Bryant Group is the only company with the kind of influence and relationships to work closely with the government. They have the power, the resources, and the experience. We don’t stand a chance.”
Loraine, however, stood her ground. “It’s precisely because they have all that power that I’m even more determined to beat them.”
