Chapter 54
It was none other than Loraine.
Loraine stood out in the crowd, wearing a sapphire-blue fishtail dress. Her wavy black hair was elegantly styled and pinned up with a pearl hairpin. A silver necklace rested delicately against her neck, grazing her soft clavicle. Her makeup was light, highlighting her natural beauty more than ever before.
The radiant smile she wore only added to her allure, making her look like a wild rose swaying gently in the breeze of the mountains. The moment she entered, the attention of every guest in the room was immediately drawn to her.
All the men stared at her, their eyes wide in admiration. They were in awe of the goddess standing before them.
“Wow, that woman is stunning.”
“Who is she? Which family does she belong to? I don’t think I’ve seen her at any of the elite parties before.”
“Wait… Her face looks familiar. Isn’t she Marco’s ex-wife, Loraine Torres?”
“Really? I always thought she was from the countryside. Tonight, she looks like someone from a noble family.”
As the guests discussed her, their eyes flickered between Marco and Loraine.
Marco, however, wasn’t paying attention to their words. He was in his own world, his gaze locked on the breathtaking woman in front of him. It had been weeks since they’d last seen each other, and she seemed to have become a hundred times more beautiful in that time. Marco found himself wishing he could take her away from all of this and keep her all to himself.
Standing beside him, Keely noticed the way his eyes shone with admiration, his gaze fixed on Loraine. She frowned, jealousy bubbling up inside her.
“Damn it!”
Why had Loraine shown up again? Keely couldn’t bear the thought of her stealing the spotlight tonight. The attention that had once been solely hers now seemed to be drifting away.
Determined to reclaim it, Keely gently pulled Marco forward, forcing a smile onto her face.
“What a pleasant surprise, Loraine!” she said, her voice laced with mockery. “I didn’t expect to see you at such a prestigious event.”
Marco, still distracted, added, “Loraine, long time no see.”
Loraine simply looked at them, her expression unreadable. She had spotted this shameless couple from a distance and, as always, had no intention of engaging with them.
But Keely wasn’t about to let her go so easily. She feigned curiosity and asked, “It’s a bit strange that you’re here, Loraine. If I recall correctly, only those with an invitation are allowed in. How did you get past security? Did you tag along with a new rich friend of yours?”
