Chapter 7
Loraine had pushed herself to the limit during the confrontation with the bodyguards. Her strength was completely drained.
With shaking hands, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
It wasn’t long before a black Lincoln pulled up in front of her. A tall, handsome man stepped out of the car, dressed in a sharp suit. As soon as Loraine caught sight of him, her body gave way. She collapsed to the ground.
The man moved quickly, striding toward her, and caught her just before she hit the ground. He lifted her effortlessly into his arms.
“Uncle Rowan…” Loraine murmured weakly, her eyelids fluttering. The world around her blurred, and before she could say anything more, she passed out in his arms.
In the Hospital
The atmosphere in the hospital room was thick with tension.
Everyone in the room could feel Marco’s anger simmering just beneath the surface. His eyes were cold, his jaw tight, and his presence was enough to make even the bravest men quiver.
The attending doctor stood at the foot of Keely’s bed, his knees trembling. He was fully aware that this wasn’t just any ordinary patient—Keely’s situation had become a crisis, and Marco was not in the mood for mistakes.
Marco threw the medical report onto the floor in disgust. His voice was ice-cold. “Kidney rupture? She needs a kidney transplant? What the hell is this?”
The doctor was sweating profusely, unable to find the words to justify the report under Marco’s harsh glare. All he could manage was a pathetic whimper.
Marco’s patience snapped. “You’ve made a foolish mistake, and now you’ve shown me that you’re not fit to be a doctor.” His voice was a low, threatening growl.
The doctor was visibly shaking. He knew Marco wasn’t bluffing. A single word from him, and his career could be over. His life, as he knew it, could be destroyed.
“Please… give me another chance,” the doctor begged, his voice barely audible.
But Marco wasn’t having it. His anger was all-consuming, and he wasn’t about to let the doctor off the hook so easily. “Get out!” Marco roared.
Without hesitation, a bodyguard grabbed the doctor by the arm and dragged him out of the room.
Marco’s gaze turned back to Keely, whose face was pale, her eyes wide with fear. There was no remorse in his eyes—only cold disappointment.
“You did this,” Marco muttered under his breath, his tone steely and distant.
Keely’s body went stiff with panic. She tried to explain, her voice trembling. “Marco, I didn’t mean it. It was just that… Loraine didn’t like it when you were nice to me, so I… I was angry. I wanted to teach her a lesson.”
Marco’s expression remained unchanged. His disappointment in her was palpable, and for the first time, it seemed as though he was beginning to see Keely for what she truly was.
