Chapter 60
The sad expression on Keely’s face froze as she clenched her fists, her fingernails digging into her palms. Though the urge to tear Loraine apart burned within her, she didn’t dare risk angering Marco further.
“Fine,” she bit out, her voice tight with frustration. “I’ll apologize to Loraine right away. Don’t be mad at me, okay?”
“I hope you keep your word,” Marco replied coldly, shooting her a sharp glance before walking away.
And so, Keely was left standing there, bearing the full weight of the crowd’s scornful glares.
A malicious thought began to fester in her mind.
Loraine! That woman had been the cause of her biggest humiliation tonight. Keely vowed to make sure Loraine never stole Marco from her again.
As the newly appointed director and the one who had secured the major deals, Loraine was scheduled to give a speech at the banquet. But first, she excused herself to freshen up. It was then that Keely saw her opportunity.
As Loraine stepped out of the Ladies’ room, she was confronted by Keely, who stood waiting at the corner of the stairs.
Loraine sighed, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear, clearly irritated. “What is it now, Keely? Why are you blocking my way?”
Keely crossed her arms, her eyes blazing with hatred. “You’re so arrogant because Marco’s protecting you, right?”
Loraine raised an eyebrow, amusement flickering in her gaze. “Marco’s protecting me? Keely, are you blind? Or is it that I’m the one who’s blind? What exactly are you trying to imply?”
Keely’s face twisted with fury. “Don’t play dumb with me, Loraine! You knew Marco would be here tonight, and you purposely made sure he saw you. You did it to embarrass me!”
Loraine threw her head back and laughed, the sound a mocking melody. Keely’s jealousy and delusion were almost laughable.
“Loraine, listen to me carefully,” Keely snarled, her voice dripping with venom. “Stay away from Marco. He’s mine now, and no matter how hard you try, you’ll never take him from me. Don’t forget your place—you’re nothing but a poor orphan from the gutters. You don’t even deserve to be Marco’s maid. Stick to whoring around. There’s no way in hell he would ever want to be with a slut like you!”
Keely’s voice cracked with rage, her face burning red as she held herself back from attacking Loraine.
Loraine’s patience finally ran out. “Stay the hell away from me, you psycho!” she snapped, her calm demeanor gone.
