Chapter 26
Marina, still seething from how Marco had scolded her because of Loraine, couldn’t hold back her anger. She raised her chin and mocked, “Do you really need me to explain why you shouldn’t be here? This is a high-end store. You’re no longer Mrs. Bryant. A country bumpkin like you can’t afford to shop here!”
Loraine, unfazed, simply folded her arms and stared at Marina as though she were looking at a mentally-ill person.
“What’s wrong with country bumpkins? Marina, you have such a foul mouth. I don’t think you’re any better than me, so get down from your high horse!”
Marina’s mouth dropped open in shock. She couldn’t believe that Loraine, of all people, was retorting.
“Loraine! You… How dare you talk to me like that? Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell my brother?”
In the past, Loraine had endured countless insults from the Bryant family, always striving to please Marco. She would quickly forgive him whenever he sided with his sister against her. But now that she was no longer in love with him, Loraine wasn’t about to tolerate any more disrespect from him or his family.
“Go ahead! What a big baby you are! Even as an adult, you always run to your brother and complain.”
Marina’s face flushed crimson with anger.
“When did you become so arrogant, Loraine? You’re just a dog my family raised for three years. How dare you bite the hand that once fed you?”
Loraine’s expression turned icy.
At that moment, a cold male voice suddenly cut through the tension.
“Who did you just refer to as a dog?”
Cayson walked over, holding a female suit in his hand.
The sight of him caused Marina’s eyes to light up. She hadn’t expected him to be even more handsome in person.
“Are you alright?” Cayson placed his hand gently on Loraine’s shoulder, concern evident in his eyes.
Marina’s jealousy flared as she watched them. “This tramp is seducing a man again!”
Her words dripped with bitterness. “I was referring to Loraine. Do you have a problem with that? My brother dumped her because she was no longer worthy of being our dog.”
“Enough!” Loraine’s voice was sharp, cutting through Marina’s venomous words.
