Chapter 79
Universe Group had not only secured the project but had also received a huge bonus, along with a luxurious cruise tour as a reward. The team was ecstatic, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement and celebration.
Loraine, too, was overjoyed. The victory felt sweet, especially knowing how much hard work had gone into making it happen.
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was Jennie.
“Lorrie! I just saw the news! Congratulations, you’re amazing! Let’s hit the bar tonight and celebrate your victory!”
Loraine stretched, her muscles aching from the long days of work. She felt it was time for a break. The constant grind had left her exhausted.
“Alright, Jennie. Wait for me at the bar. I’ll head home, change, and be there soon.”
An hour later, Loraine walked into Fwell Bar, looking every bit the part of someone who had just conquered a major victory. She wore a stunning wine-red dress, paired with four-inch stilettos that clicked on the floor with every step. Her dark brown hair cascaded in loose curls, framing her face and drawing attention to her confident, seductive look. The bold eye makeup and rosy lips made her appear like a temptress.
Jennie, who was no stranger to beauty herself, stared at Loraine in shock, her mouth falling open. “Oh my God! You look absolutely stunning, Lorrie. If I were a man, I’d marry you on the spot!”
Loraine chuckled, her lips curling into a warm smile. “You’re too sweet.”
Without a second thought, Jennie rushed over and enveloped her in a tight hug. “You shouldn’t have married him in the first place, Lorrie. You wasted three whole years with that jerk, Marco! Come on, let’s go inside. I’m sure the men in here will be falling over themselves to get your attention.”
With that, she dragged Loraine into the bar.
Meanwhile, in the private room of the bar, Marco sat slouched on the sofa, his eyes dark with irritation. He hadn’t touched a single drop of wine.
“What? You’re telling me that Loraine took the government project from Marco?” Slater asked, his eyes wide in disbelief.
Jimmie, noticing Marco’s sour mood, nudged him gently. “Hey, keep it down! Can’t you see Marco’s in no mood for this right now?”
He furrowed his brow, his voice lowering with confusion. “Marco, if you’re trying to patch things up with your ex-wife, don’t you think this is a bit… much?”
