Chapter 25
“Please don’t!” Loraine sighed, her patience wearing thin.
“Uncle Rowan, Uncle Wesley, I don’t want you setting up a blind date for me. Dating is the last thing on my mind right now. I just want to focus on my career.”
Aldo, always protective of his granddaughter, cleared his throat and added his support. “Forget it. Let Lorrie be. She should focus on her career if that’s what she wants.”
Loraine smiled as she hugged her grandfather. “Thank you, Grandpa! You know me best!”
“But since you just got employed at the company, you need someone to look after you. Cayson is a good man. I’ll speak to him at once!”
Loraine quickly shook her head, declining. “Stop, Grandpa. I’m not a child. I don’t need anyone to look after me. Besides, Cayson is busy. Don’t worry. I’ll learn the ropes of the job myself.”
Aldo, however, was not so easily swayed. “No way! I can’t let you navigate the career world on your own.”
He didn’t give in to her objections and immediately dialed Cayson’s number.
“Hello, Cayson. Are you free right now? Anyway, I wanted to ask you for a favor regarding Lorrie. She’s starting work soon, and if you have time, could you please take her shopping for the things she’ll need for work? Her uncles and I will feel much better if she’s with you.”
After a pause, Aldo added, “Alright, great. I’ll tell her right away.”
He hung up, grinning widely, and turned to Loraine. “Lorrie, hurry up and get dressed. Cayson agreed.”
Though Loraine didn’t want to go, she couldn’t refuse her grandfather’s request.
Soon, Cayson arrived to pick her up, and they drove to the shopping mall.
Their first stop was a high-end women’s clothing store.
Coincidentally, Marina was shopping there at the same time.
As soon as Marina saw Loraine, she shouted in surprise, “Loraine! What are you doing here?”
Loraine frowned, her irritation clear. “What kind of question is that? Why can’t I be here?”
