Chapter 94
“Mom, didn’t I warn you not to get involved? Why did you release the lawyer’s letter without my permission?” Marco’s voice was sharp, his face darkening as his anger boiled over.
Laura, however, was oblivious to his fury, waiting eagerly for his praise.
“I just wanted to help you! How’s it going? Is Loraine scared now? Did she beg for your mercy?” she asked, her tone hopeful.
“Delete the post right now!” Marco’s voice was a command, loud and insistent.
Laura flinched at his outburst. “What? Why? That woman played dirty tricks and stole our project. I’m not deleting anything unless she quits.”
Marco ran a hand through his hair in frustration, trying to calm himself. “As I said earlier, we don’t know the truth yet. It’s not her.”
He had spent too much time suspecting Loraine without evidence. He had failed her when she needed him most, and he wasn’t about to make the same mistake again.
Laura, still trembling at Marco’s anger, lowered her voice but couldn’t help herself from commenting on Loraine.
“Marco, how can you talk to me like that? That woman is a bitch. She played dirty tricks on us. She even stole our project. I’m just sending a lawyer’s letter. Be glad I didn’t call the police on her!”
Marco’s face darkened even further, and his anger was now palpable.
“I told you I’d deal with this issue. Nobody is allowed to interfere in my business.”
The intensity in his gaze made Laura swallow her words. She was taken aback by the force of his response and didn’t dare to argue further.
Seeing that his mother had finally fallen silent, Marco picked up his phone, intent on calling Loraine.
But when he dialed her number, he was met with silence. The call didn’t connect. Realization hit him like a ton of bricks—Loraine had blocked him.
Frustrated, Marco set the phone down. Since he couldn’t reach her, he quickly turned to Carl for help.
“Send an email to Universe Group right away and tell them that the lawyer’s letter was a mistake. I know Loraine would never steal the documents. Bryant Group is fully responsible for this matter. After we find the truth, we will issue a statement of clarification to prove Loraine’s innocence.”
