Chapter 65
Keely screamed as her body crashed to the floor, the impact jarring her wound and sending a fresh wave of pain through her. She was truly hurting this time, but no one in the room believed her. Marco, his face a mask of disgust, looked down at her with a cold sneer.
“I’ve had it up to here with you, Keely. This is the second time you’ve lied to me.”
Keely’s heart hammered in her chest. Despite the pain, she scrambled to her feet, grabbing onto Marco’s sleeve desperately. “I didn’t lie to you, Marco. I never said Loraine pushed me. It’s all just one big misunderstanding!”
Her voice was shaking, and she started coughing uncontrollably. Her face flushed a deep scarlet as she struggled to compose herself.
“Honestly, I went to apologize to Loraine, but she wouldn’t listen. I was just so anxious for her to forgive me. You know my health isn’t the best. I slipped and fell by accident. I’m not lying, Marco. I’m not trying to frame Loraine. You have to believe me.”
Loraine rolled her eyes. What a shameless liar Keely is! Despite all the evidence, she was still trying to manipulate the situation in her favor.
Loraine knew Marco would likely ignore the proof. After all, he had done it before, time and time again. She was done watching this farce. With a sigh of indifference, she whispered something to Cayson and turned on her heel, preparing to leave.
Marco’s heart sank as he watched her walk away. Without thinking, he moved forward, intending to follow her.
“Marco! Please don’t leave me here!” Keely’s voice trembled as she clung to him. “Remember your promise to Jorge.”
Marco froze in place, the mention of Jorge making him stop dead in his tracks. For a moment, Keely’s eyes lit up with hope.
But to her utter shock, Marco wrenched his arm away from her grip. “Take her to the hospital,” he ordered his bodyguards coldly, his eyes not even glancing at Keely. Then, without another word, he hurried after Loraine.
“Loraine, wait!” Marco called out, his voice filled with urgency.
