Chapter 43
The room erupted in chaos as the recording played, revealing Barry’s sinister actions. The atmosphere shifted from tense to stunned disbelief.
“Oh my God! Never in a million years would I have believed that Mr. Gray is a pervert!” one employee gasped.
“Same here! He sexually harassed her, didn’t he? This is so terrifying. I can only imagine how Loraine felt that night!” another whispered, her voice trembling.
“No wonder the last female intern resigned out of the blue. Something tells me Mr. Gray had a hand in it!” someone else murmured, their tone laced with horror.
The room buzzed with shocked voices as the employees began to piece everything together. Barry’s reputation, once seen as untouchable, was now crumbling before their eyes.
Furious, Barry slammed his hands on the table, his eyes glowing with rage. “Loraine Torres!” he shouted, his voice dripping with venom. “The recording is fake! She’s trying to frame me. Don’t believe her!”
But no one was listening. The evidence was undeniable. Loraine remained calm, her gaze unwavering. She folded her arms and looked at Barry with a cold, calculated expression.
“Barry,” she said coolly, “it’s over. I’ve already handed the relevant evidence to the company’s management and the police. Very soon, we’ll know if this recording is fake or not.”
Barry’s face turned an unhealthy shade of pale. His body stiffened, his hands trembling as the reality of the situation set in. He held his head in his hands, a pained expression crossing his face.
“How could this be?” he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Before anyone could react further, there was a knock on the door. Two uniformed policemen stepped inside the meeting room, their presence commanding immediate attention.
“Excuse us, everyone. Which of you is Barry Gray?” one of the officers asked, his voice firm and official.
All eyes turned to Barry, who sat frozen at the head of the table. The officers approached him without hesitation.
“I guess you must be Barry Gray. Please come with us,” the other officer said.
“No! Why are you arresting me? Let go of me!” Barry protested, scrambling in his seat as panic set in. His voice cracked with desperation.
But it was too late. Despite his struggles, the officers grabbed him and escorted him out of the room. His shouts and cries echoed in the hallway as he was dragged from the building, the weight of his actions finally catching up with him.
Back in the meeting room, the employees exchanged stunned glances. One woman, unable to contain her shock, whispered, “Am I dreaming? Was the director really arrested?”
“Well, you’re not. Mr. Gray is no longer the director. I’m sure he’ll be fired now that the cops have whisked him away,” another employee remarked with a sense of satisfaction. There was a note of triumph in her voice, as though the balance of power had shifted dramatically.
Loraine remained composed, but inwardly, she felt a small sense of vindication. Barry’s reign of intimidation had ended, and the truth was finally out in the open.
