Chapter 63
Marco’s eyes widened at Loraine’s words, disbelief flashing across his face.
Loraine leaned forward, her gaze cold as it fixed on Keely, who was still hiding in Marco’s arms, tears streaming down her face in an exaggerated display of distress.
“Last time, you stabbed yourself to frame me. You wanted to take my kidney as compensation.” Loraine’s voice was sharp. “What’s your plan this time? Are you going to fake a broken leg and ask Marco to cut one of mine off for you?”
Keely’s body tensed in Marco’s arms, and her face drained of color. Her tears seemed to dry up as her mind raced, trying to regain control of the situation.
“I’m not pulling any stunts, Loraine,” Keely said, her voice trembling. “I know I wronged you. But please, don’t accuse me falsely.”
Marco, still reeling from Loraine’s accusation, recovered his composure. His eyes darkened with warning as he fixed Loraine with a hard stare. “Don’t go too far, Loraine.”
Loraine’s lips curled into a faint, almost pitying smile as she watched the familiar scene unfold. History was repeating itself, and for a moment, the bitterness of it all flooded her once more.
How she regretted ever falling for this man—this man who had turned her life into a never-ending cycle of suffering. But there was one thing she was grateful for: she was finally free of him.
Turning her attention back to Keely, Loraine’s disgust was palpable. “You’re clever, Keely. You always manage to find a blind spot, so no surveillance footage can catch you. But this time… I’m not falling for your tricks.”
With that, Loraine tossed her hair back, revealing the small microphone pinned to her gown. She pulled it off with deliberate care and held it up for everyone to see.
“This little thing right here has an excellent recording function,” she said, her voice low but certain. “Would you like to hear what it has recorded?”
Keely’s face went pale, panic flashing in her eyes. She fought to suppress the surge of fear, trying to maintain her composure.
Perhaps this was another one of Loraine’s tricks, she thought, refusing to believe the game was over. Keely quickly adopted her best innocent expression.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about…” she began, but the panic in her eyes betrayed her words.
