Chapter 72
Slater wrenched his arm free from Jimmie’s grip.
“What the hell? Why’d you stop me from questioning him? Marco’s so caught up in work that he’s lost his mind! He’s stopped caring about the woman he likes. Seriously, he’s losing it.”
Jimmie wiped his hands, his expression unreadable. “You think Marco likes Keely?”
Slater shot him a confused look. “What do you mean? Of course, Marco likes Keely. Have you forgotten? Keely is the only woman in his heart. If it weren’t for Jorge and their engagement, Marco would have married her long ago. No way Loraine could have stolen Marco from her.”

Jimmie and Slater exchanged a look.

Keely’s eyes reddened, and she quickly seized the chance to vent. “At Universe Group’s banquet… we ran into Loraine. When we got back, Marco started acting distant, ignoring me. I tried to talk to him, to explain…”
She paused, her tone darkening as she mentioned Loraine, a subtle bitterness creeping into her voice. It was clear she felt Loraine had done something to push Marco away.
Slater’s expression darkened, his anger flaring as he imagined Loraine driving a wedge between Keely and Marco. He had no love for the woman.
“I knew it had something to do with Loraine,” he muttered angrily. “Now she’s getting all arrogant because of Cayson’s backing. She’s trying to compete with—”
